Teen Scholars at Mighty Writers North, in partnership with The Advocate Center and the historic Church of the Advocate, is a unique semester long workshop for high school students. Our Mighty Teen Scholars program, for North Philly students in grades 9-12, meets at Mighty Writers North, 1801 Diamond Street, from 6 to 7:30 pm every Wednesday.

The Teen Scholars writing program is built on critical thinking, dynamic discussions and achievement. Scholars equips teens with skills that will prepare them for college-level communication and writing. The Teen Scholars will explore books designed to teach, challenge and generate meaningful dialogue.

This year we’ll be reading Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue, Nobody by Marc Lamont Hill and Invisible Man, Got the Whole World Watching by Mychal Denzel Smith.

In addition to weekly meetings, the Teen Scholars visit several colleges throughout the year. If you have any questions about our weekly schedule or upcoming college visits, please email soneal@mightywriters.org.
