The Middle Grades Academy at MW West guides students in grades 6-8 through the writing process. We build a Mighty community and complete writing projects in informative, persuasive, narrative & poetry writing. Three days/week required.

College Access 1st Tuesdays! NOV. session is 11/12, focused on PARENTS ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES. It takes a village, education is the key to success & financial gain. Find out the roles & responsibilities of parents, students & schools, from GED to PhD.

Individualized SAT support. Space is limited. Attendance at all sessions required.
Teen Scholars West
The Teen Scholars program at MW West offers youth 13+ college/job prep & community service experience with emphasis on personal character growth and publishing. Three Sundays/month required.
Ready, Set, Discover YOU
Poets and short-story writers alike, turn your table talk into self-discovery. Share, challenge, celebrate and strengthen personal voice through creative expression. Each student receives a free copy of poetry prompt books. Optional open mic event.
Crafty Readers Club
The Crafty Readers club is designed to boost your child's interest in reading and writing by engaging their creative senses. In the spring we will be writing for a magazine publishing contest! Regular attendance is required.
Above the Influence
Understanding the realities of drug use and addiction. Exploring positive alternatives to the negative influences around us. Be a voice of healthy living for your peers by designing your own public service announcement.
Choose Your Own Gaming Adventure
Teaching Teens the foundation of writing a strong video game narrative. Participants will build branching narratives through the web app Twinery. The goal of this workshop is to bridge the gap between urban communities and the gaming industry.
The Elementary Grades Academy guides students in grades 3-5 through the writing process. We build community & complete writing projects in informative, persuasive, narrative & poetry writing. Cursive writing Wednesdays included! Three days/week required.
The MW community comes together to learn mindfulness tools, strategies & activities. Learn ways to teach youth to relax and feel centered all while helping them develop. Parents, volunteers & everyone welcome!

Philadelphia Stories Jr. Editorial Board
This workshop is a closed committee of 5 teens and 5 adults processing submissions and edits for final publication. This committee meets for 6-8 consecutive sessions, twice a year (Teen edition prints in fall, Junior edition prints in spring).
Mighty Toddlers West
Spend some educational fun time with your toddlers. This weekly play session is family friendly. Parents attend with your toddler to learn how to prepare them for school the Mighty way. Free trips and snacks included. Open to daycares.
