Contest theme: Connections & Relationships
Write a poem, short story or essay about a meaningful connection and/or relationship in your life or in the lives of characters you create.
Deadline: Nov. 27, 2023
Prizes of $500 for first place and $100 for runner-up.

The Mighty Writers Fall 2023 Writing Contest aims to amplify voices from underrepresented communities, and values clear, original, exceptional writing. We're also looking for entries that are:
Emotionally and/or intellectually engaging
Prize-winning entries will create an emotional connection and/or promote new ways of understanding the theme of relationships through well-developed ideas, and/or characters, and/or conflicts.
Imaginative
Prize-winning entries will avoid cliches and borrowed plots. They will present fresh storylines, and/or interesting settings, and/or inventive structures and/or original imagery.
Clear
Prize-winning entries will include plots, ideas, and themes that are made clear through strong transitions, clear sentence structure, and carefully proofread language.
Mighty Writers is a class 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2009. One hundred percent of the programs we offer are free. We serve communities in and around Philadelphia, PA, as well as in Camden, Newark and Atlantic City, NJ. We also run writing workshops in Washington Heights, NYC.
