The Mighty Writers Mentorship Program
The Mighty Writers Mentorship Program connects students in grades 2 through 12 with individual volunteer mentors.
Mighty Writers pairs each student with a mentor by getting to know the student's personality, interests, goals (especially in reading and writing) and schedule. Our mentors have different areas of expertise and are cleared to work with children.
Like all Mighty Writers programs, mentorships are free to students.
To enroll a student in a Mighty one-to-one, please complete the Mighty Writers Registration form, selecting "New Mentorship Request," and someone from our team will reach out to you for a first interview.
Questions? Spanish speaking or grades 2-6, contact Selekha Ramos at sramos@mightywriters.org or 267-428-7107. Grades 7-12 and alumni, contact Josar Jones at jjones@mightywriters.org or 267-713-9063.

Ameenah and RobinLike many One-to-One pairs, 4th grader Ameenah and Robin started out with one goal - to improve Ameenah's reading and writing - and ended up working on life skills too! Their biggest unwritten lesson: punctuality. (Ameenah and Robin play Kahoots! together when they start on time.) Another fun thing they're doing: reading the book series Planet Omar by Zanib Mian.
Jerry and Bob
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Hemingway, speed reading, the New York Times: If it's worthy and in print, chances are, Bob and Jerry have explored it together. Bob has shared his vast writing experience during a pivotal transitional year for Jerry. Among their many projects: Work on Jerry's application essays for select high schools. The result: Jerry will attend St. Joe's Prep next year!
Marci and AïchaAïcha's mom signed her daughter up to get help with math, reading and writing. English is Aïcha's family's third language, after Mandingo and French. Aïcha's family is also new to Philadelphia, which means she has been learning remotely at a new school. Marci has enjoyed getting to know Aïcha and her family's culture while reading and writing with her. She even inspired Aïcha to sign up for Mighty Writers workshops, where she's making new friends!
Valeria and Rebecca

Student and Mighty Writers alum Jhayden Gunter quickly forged a bond with second grader Kamora and Kamora's family. Kamora is a dancer, gymnast, artist and gamer. Her mom also wanted support to help her become a reader! Despite Jhayden's full schedule - which includes school, two jobs and a big family - Jhayden has brought communication, resourcefulness, flexibility and enthusiasm to her work with Kamora.
