Victoria Best: Changing Kids' Lives
A note from Maureen: Victoria Best, founder of the educational nonprofit VUOTS, reached out to me in response to “Love at First Sight,” the first episode of the Mighty Writers podcast. In that episode, Akeiba Emerson shares her personal journey through the foster care system. Victoria could relate to Akeiba, whose life was forever changed by the love of her adoptive mother. In Victoria’s case, an educational mentor had a lasting impact, inspiring Victoria to become a community influencer dedicated to empowering children through education. Both stories illustrate how each of us can make a difference, especially when we devote ourselves to nurturing relationships with kids who need us.
